About Me

I live with my wife Tamara in St. Louis, where I edit St. Louis Magazine and Stlmag.com (for which I'm occasionally out and about). As a small side project, I also edit Tunneling, a website for readers of William H. Gass. Prior to my position with SLM, I edited books for the Wisconsin Historical Society Press; edited the book section for PLAYBACK:stl; wrote and edited for the Saint Louis Art Museum and other institutions; and contributed articles, reviews, essays, and interviews to The Believer, Identity Theory, St. Louis Magazine, The Capital Times, Pop Matters, The Quarterly Conversation, Popular Music & Society, and Washington University in St. Louis Magazine. If you poke around here, you'll see that my favorite subjects are books, movies, the visual arts, architecture, and wine.
